0NA 87337QLG223 (seed parent)Cephalotaxus sinensis (Rehder & E. H. Wilson) H. L. Li Gansu Sheng, ChinaNA2020COLLECTED10/04/1996Tianshui City (Qinling Mountains): Xiaolongshan Forestry Experimental Bureau, Dang Chuan Forest Station, Mai Chao Gou.34.29819000, 106.199110001605Rocky slope in part shade along woodland edge, just above floodplain of stream; growing in large, almost impenetrable masses, untouched by grazing animals; in well-drained, rocky, generally silty-sandy soils deposited among rocks in floodplain.Wild materialFull name as recorded at U.S. National Arboretum: Cephalotaxus sinensis. Open-pollinated seedlings found directly underneath NA 67854 qualifiers L and T (latter deceased), growing in close proximity and some distance from other Cephalotaxus accessions. Parent qualifier L is in poor condition and qualifier T likely died within the last one to three years; these were the last remaining individuals of this wild collection, so it is worth preserving the germplasm through their seedlings. The year of origin is only an estimate based on the apparent seedling age; seedlings appear to have germinated over a few years. There is likely to be no fundamental difference between the seedlings from the two NA 67854 qualifiers, but seedlings from 67854-L will initially be treated as 87337-H, and the (more numerous) seedlings from deceased 67854-T will be treated initially as 87337-J. -SBL2155330NA 87337
