Wild materialThis collection represents genetics from the far western range of Kentucky coffeetree. Numerous large specimens were noted throughout this area and specimens 674-4 and 674-5 were collected in the vicinity of the current (2019) Oklahoma State Champion Gymnocladus dioicus which was nominated by Carstens and Schmitz in 2015. The state champion specimen (likely a male) was officially measured on 21 April 2015 by Riley Coy (Oklahoma Forestry Services): 100.5" circumference, 90' in height, 51.5' crown spread totalling 203 points. 1925367Ames 32901

Wild materialA total of four areas containing Gymnocladus dioicus were noted throughout Poosey Conservation Area. Each area was represented by approximately 2-6 specimens. Specimens ranged between 14-22.5 inches d.b.h. and approximately 90-110 feet in height. Pod production during the 2012 growing season was minimal/below average. Samples 473-1 and 473-2 were very close together (approximately 10 feet apart) and samples 473-3 and 473-4 were also very close together (approximately 48 feet apart). Samples this close together may potentially represent material from a single clone due to the clonal suckering habit of Gymnocladus dioicus.1908307Ames 32018
